MANITOBA LIQUOR CONTROL COMMISSION

INTRODUCTION

It is the responsibility of the advertiser, or their authorized agents, officers, or employees, to ensure that advertisements do not contravene the Liquor Control Act or the Liquor Advertising Rules of Conduct Regulation.

A copy of the Regulation, which includes general provisions, basic principles, permitted and prohibited advertising, and contest conditions, has been reprinted and is attached for your guidance.

Prior approval of advertisements by the Liquor Control Commission is not necessary, however, an advertiser may submit their print, radio, or television advertisement and/or sales promotion concept to the Commission for an opinion as to whether the ad or concept complies with the Regulation.

REQUESTING AN OPINION

If requesting the Commission's opinion about an advertisement or sales promotion concept, the following procedure applies:

Submit a copy of the proposed print ad, radio or television script, or sales promotion concept, to the Manager, Licences & Permits, Liquor Control Commission, 1555 Buffalo Place, P. O. Box 1023, Winnipeg, MB, R3C 2X1.

The submission will be reviewed and a written opinion provided to the advertiser within five working days.

If necessary, a final print ad, audio, or visual cassette may be requested.

If a submission is not suitable, the written opinion will include reasons.
