Hush Puppies has chosen Optimum Public Relations, a company of the Cossette Communications Group, to develop and implement a national public relations campaign to celebrate its 50th anniversary throughout 2008.

Optimum will develop traditional and non-traditional media relations campaigns as well as public events to showcase the company’s 2008 Spring and Fall collections – with special emphasis on a brand new Guest Designer Series collection. Hush Puppies has partnered with celebrity stylists Phillip Bloch (U.S.) and Rachel Fanconi (U.K.) to create a fashion forward line of men’s and women’s shoes and boots for the Fall 2008 season.

“This milestone anniversary is an ideal opportunity for us to celebrate the spirit behind '50 years of casual style'," says George Bicas, marketing manager, Hush Puppies Canada,St. Laurent, Que.. "Our team and loyal retailers are looking forward to being part of all the fun events that we have planned for our customers throughout the year.”

Pierre Tessier, vice-president, marketing public relations and spokesperson training at Optimum, says, "Many people know about the fantastic quality and comfort of Hush Puppies’ shoes and boots, and immediately recognize their distinctive Basset Hound icon. It’s time to remind consumers about this and also begin speaking to a new consumer, one who is looking for both fashion and comfort in footwear.”
