Fifth Edition of Ouvre ta boite Competition for Future Creatives Launches This Week
by Gail Chiasson
Mar 19, 2008
Students in the Montreal area studying in communications and design, young freelancers and others wanting to enter the advertising industry are invited to enter ouvretaboite.com and enter the competition running over the next four weeks that will offer the big winner a three month stage at Montreal agency LXB.

Each Wednesday, beginning Mar. 19, a brief will be given online to develop advertising for a real client, with the weekly entries to be judged by senior creatives from the industry. This week's brief is for Couche-Tard, and all advertising presented must be in the French language.

This is the fifth edition of the 5 à 7 ouvretaboite.com competition, presented by the Association Marketing de Montreal-Publicité-Club de Montréal with the aim of bringing in new blood to help renew and rejuvenate the industry.

Each Thursday - March 27, April 3, 17 and 14 - (a week after each weekly brief is posted), entrants must bring their advertising to a '5 à 7' at the Café de la Cinémathèque at 335, boulevard de Maisonneuve Est, where it will be strung on a clothesline to be judged.

This offers young creatives a real chance to build their portfolio. More than 15 creative directors will be judging and, who knows, may even be interested in capturing the talents for their own agencies in the future. And if the ideas are really great, maybe the clients may want to consider their use

Watch for the first brief today. It's not too late to enter. Ads (mainly print, maybe radio or TV scripts) will be judged on such factors as the idea, concept, creativity, and application.

While it isn't necessary to enter each weekly event, more entries offer a better chance of winning that stage at LXB. The best from each week will compete for the grand prize.
