With a sheet draped strategically, Tony Miller, creative director, Smith Roberts Creative Communications, Toronto, wakes up after a one-night-stand with a contemporary art sculpture in an ad for Power Ball 10, a fundraiser for The Power Plant, a major Canadian contemporary art gallery, It's one of three ads created pro bono by Smith Roberts for Power Ball 10, with creative playing on the 10-year history of Power Ball being the party that started it all. In addition to the ad featuring Miller, another ad shows a passed-out party-goer who has become an art display himself. A third ad shows a businessman violating one of the art displays during the party. Copy on each includes the headline 'The Original Contemporary Art Party', with 'Power Ball 10: Decadance', the date and Web site address. The Power Plant Art Gallery is a major non-collecting public art gallery in Toronto devoted solely to the exhibition and interpretation of contemporary art in all media, with an emphasis on sculpture, painting and installation. Exhibits include work by artists from across the country and abroad with a strong commitment to the work of Toronto artists. The campaign consists of newspaper, outdoor and promotional material.
