Evian Launches First English Spots in Canada

Evian Natural Spring Water, leading premium spring water, has launched its first English television spot to ever appear in Canada.

The television spot, ‘Fill with Care,’ debuted as a pilot on francophone stations in Sept./07. The spot, developed by Japan’s Ogilvy & Mather, is now airing across Canada in both English and French, through to July/08.

“We were thrilled with the impact the Francophone ‘Fill with Care’ spot has had on our business,” says Jeff Caswell, vice-president marketing, Evian North America. “We are now able to communicate what makes Evian different to the rest of Canada.”

The spot features glimpses of a cosmopolitan woman living her everyday life – running to meetings, walking along the street, dancing, and working out – while at the same time, creating a semi-transparent water effect on the woman featured to show that the body is made of water and should be replenished naturally, with Evian.

“The idea that the body is mostly made up of water truly resonates with consumers,” says Michael Thouin, brand manager, Evian Canada. “The fact that Evian comes from the pristine French Alps helps encourage consumers to want to fill their body with the natural purity of Evian.”

The TV ads are appearing on various stations including Global TV, CityTV and CTV Ontario; specialty stations including TSN, Food Network, Showcase and HGTV; and Francophone stations SRC, TVA, Canal Vie, Séries +, RDS and Télé-Québec. The spot will also air several prime time shows and sports specials.

In addition to the TV spot, Evian Canada will be releasing an outdoor advertising component throughout Toronto in June/08. The creative, titled 'Our Factory', is a play on how Evian is manufactured: a natural 15-year journey from the top of the Alps to the Cachat Springs. The campaign was adapted by Toronto’s Sharpe Blackmore Euro RSCG and features a bottle of Evian overlooking the magnificent French Alps, its source.

Bottled since 1826, Evian Natural Spring Water is a brand of Danone Group. The brand recently became the Official Bottled Water of the Olympus US Open Series in a deal that will span the next five years. The luxury brand has become the choice beverage for tennis devotees, aligned as an official sponsor of three out of the four Grand Slam tournaments around the world including the Australian Open, the Wimbledon Championships and now its 23rd year with the US Open (the final tournament in the Olympus US Open Series).

Evian has also extended its endorsement deal with tennis star James Blake, marking its third year of supporting the athlete. Blake is the number two ranked American tennis player in the world.
