Ericsson's MINI-LINK, a microwave transmission product, is going to allow Hydro-Québec to expand its network and to improve its high-performance broadband service, thereby upgrading the quality of its communication services. "MINI-LINK is well suited for situations where great distances and inhospitable climate make communications difficult, allowing companies to reduce cost and increase the level of service to their users," says Mark Henderson, president and CEO, Ericsson Canada. "We needed to extend and modernize our existing microwave-based communications systems to meet the new traffic demands," says Patrick Truong, senior telecommunications director at Hydro-Québec. "We feel that Ericsson's MINI-LINK meets the complexity, high reliability and fault tolerance our operations require. It also provides a platform for flexible, secure, scalable and cost effective wireless operations." Ericsson was identified as the supplier of choice after a rigorous selection process, testing and trial period.
