In Quebec, only 10% of patients tend to benefit from palliative care at home. To help raise funds to make this possible for more of those in need, the Foundation-Jacques Bouchard is inviting media representatives to kick off its first-ever fundraising campaign Sept. 17/08 at a 5 to 7, which will take place at the agency BOS. Set up at the initiative of Caroline Bouchard (Mme Jacques Bouchard), Dr. Serge Daneault and Dr. Robert Marchand, the Foundation-Jacques Bouchard promotes a multidisciplinary approach to assist terminally ill adults or children to receive palliative care home. The Foundation is named in honour of the late Jacques Bouchard, considered the grand-père of French-language advertising in Quebec, who was able to benefit from an end of life at home, surrounded by his family, in a calm and tranquil setting. The benefit evening will be moderated by Albert Millaire in the presence of Caroline Bouchard, founding president of the Foundation, Dr. Marchand, head of palliative care service at the Hospital of Verdun, and many members of the artistic and advertising community in Quebec. The sale of tickets and an auction, under the direction of auctioneer Iegor de Saint-Hyppolite, will raise funds, all of which will be paid to the Foundation-Jacques Bouchard. Those who wish to support this cause are invited to book their place and to obtain a ticket at a cost of $99 by contacting the Foundation-Jacques Bouchard at 514-543-4933 or at fondationjacquesbouchard@videotron.ca. A pioneer of advertising in Quebec, Jacques Bouchard was able to benefit from an end of life at home, surrounded by his family, in a calm and tranquil setting. The Foundation-Jacques Bouchard would like to lend its support to fill in the lacking services, such as support for care before, during and after the death, access to family nurses trained in the field of palliative care, and psychological resources and material. The Foundation also plans to develop a research phase on care at the end of life at home.
