Stéphanie Brillon, in first place, the team of Fahé Villeneuve and Jean-Philippe Desjardins in second place, and Maxime David in third are the three winners of the first week of the competition ouvretaboite.com which is geared to draw attention to the work of students and other young people wanting to enter the advertising industry. This offers young creatives a real chance to build their portfolio. After four weeks, one winner will be offered a three-month stage at LXB, Montreal. At each of four 5 à 7 weekly events, the creative work for a real client, developed over one week, is strung on a clothesline for judging by senior creative professionals. The first week's work, developed following a briefing by Couche-Tard, drew a major crowd and so many entries that a second line may have to be installed for future weeks so that judges have more space to critically evaluate the entries. It was obvious in week one that the 'creatives of tomorrow' have no fear of showing off their talents. Judges François Vaillancourt of Ogilvy, Marc Fabien of Alfred and Pascal de Decker of PALM Arnold Communication awarded the prizes. In addition, Chantal Sajo of Couche-Tard presented the 'prix coup de cœur client' to Pacha Ducharme. And Gilbert Paquette of Hebdos Québec, official presenter of the 5 à 7 ouvretaboite.com, presented the 'media creativity' prize to the team of Alexis Caron-Côté and Jean-Philippe Dugal. All winners proceed to the grand finale and the chance to win the stage at LXB. Young creatives and members of the industry are invited to attend the next event on April 4 at the Café de la Cinémathèque. A brief for the next competition by Transcontinental (coupdepouce.com) is online at ouvretaboite.com. People can vote for their favourites among the past week's winners in the section Talents-vedettes des 5 à 7 at www.ouvretaboite.com. Photos of the judges and winners of the past week can be seen in the photos section of the Web site.
