DDB Canada's creative prowess in public relations and communications was honoured last month at the prestigious 2008 Gold Quill Awards, presented by the International Association of Business Communicators in New York. As the most awarded Canadian agency at the IABC show, DDB Canada captured two Awards of Excellence and an Award of Merit. DDB Edmonton won an Award of Excellence in the Economic, Social and Environmental Development Category for its Healthy U Family campaign for the Alberta Health and Wellness, Family Branch. The campaign was also honoured with the Jake Wittmer Award for the outstanding use of research in the development of the campaign. An Award of Merit was given to DDB Edmonton in the Other Graphic Design Category for the Town of Banff Construction project. DDB Public Relations, a division of DDB Toronto, took its Award of Excellence in the Media Relations Category for its outstanding campaign to promote the Ontario Science Centre’s Titanic: The Artifact Exhibition. DDB Public Relations was the only Canadian PR agency to be honoured with an Award of Excellence at this year’s Gold Quill Awards. IABC’s Gold Quill Awards program has been the hallmark of excellence in business communication for more than 35 years. This year’s competition received over 1,040 entries from 30 countries. Of these, 116 were selected to receive awards; 41 Awards of Excellence, 73 Awards of Merit and two student awards.
