It wasn't Canada's shining week at the 56th International Advertising Festival at Cannes last week: only two Gold, four Silver (including the Young Lions), eight Bronze - and no awards in the Press, Direct, Promo, Titanium and Integrated categories, nor any special awards. True, entries were down this year, as were the number of delegates, both blamed on the global recession. But despite Canada's advertising talent, other countries are simply doing better. Why? We weren't there to judge, but it will be interesting to hear the comments of those who were as they disassemble the facts and give their views. However, congratulations to the following: - Film Lions category: . Gold - TAXI, Toronto, for Pfizer Canada's Viagra's 'Antiquing', 'Stroling' and 'Reading'; . Silver - Cossette, Toronto, for General Mills' Pizza Pops' 'Karate Chop', 'Monkeys' and 'Robot Friend'; - Doug Agency, Toronto, for Canadian Film Centre;s 'Worldwide Short Film Festival'; . Bronze - BBDO Canada, Toronto, for Pepsi-QTG Canada's Tropicana Tropics' 'Taxi'; - Ogilvy, Toronto, for Post Cereal's' Shreddies' 'Graph' and 'Letters'. - Outdoor Lions category: .
