After three years in the position, Mike Bax, founder of Fazer Magazine, is handing the reigns to Laurie Lonsdale, multi-published author, journalist and FAZER's former editor. The current version of the Web site and the structure of the magazine are undergoing several changes during the transition phase. Readers can expect extensive upgrades and expansions. With a name change to FAZER Magazine.com and a new and improved Web site launch set for Nov./09, the online magazine will be expanding its coverage to include additional areas of the entertainment industry while maintaining its music roots. “I created the FAZER Web site in Oct./06 after being turned down by every local London vehicle to review and photograph live concerts,” says Bax. “At the beginning of 2009, there were 16 contributors along with a whole mess of HR and administration that were taking the fun out of the site for me. I knew FAZER needed someone who was actually into doing something more focused with the Web site. That will happen under Lonsdale’s direction. I look forward to seeing where the site will go in the coming years.” Lonsdale has an extensive and long standing history in the music industry. A former radio personality, she has previously been involved in concert promotion, radio chart compilation, and sales and marketing, in addition to band management and public relations. Heading up FAZER Magazine.com is a fitting move as it marries all of her career experiences in one project. Lonsdale says, “For an outlet that began as a hobby site, Mike has created something really wonderful and I’m excited for this new challenge. It will be a true pleasure to carry on with the fantastic music journalism that’s come to be expected from FAZER.” Lonsdale has written for numerous magazines including Toronto Exclusive, Moxie, and Scene and Heard and has five women’s fiction/thriller novels among her published credits. With writers based in both Canada and the United States, FAZER Magazine.com has featured interviews with many established talents.Under Lonsdale’s ownership and direction this transformation is set to make FAZER Magazine.com the new go-to online magazine for music, entertainment and much more. FAZER Magazine.com has moved to new offices in downtown Toronto.
