NATIONAL Redefines Brand Position
by Gail Chiasson
Oct 22, 2009
NATIONAL Public Relations, Canada's largest PR consultancy, has decided to refresh its own brand, launching a new tagline, branding statement and ads that define its continued focus.

Building and enhancing some of the world’s best-known brands through communications has been the expertise of NATIONAL Public Relations for more than three decades. It is now entering its 34th year of business.

“It is essential for any organization to clearly define who it is and what it strives to stand for, for its clients,” says John Crean, national managing partner, NATIONAL Public Relations. “Our new positioning is a natural part of NATIONAL’s evolution as we continue to assess our brand to ensure that it is current, relevant and reflects our leadership position."

Created by a company-wide branding team, NATIONAL’s new brand positioning statement and tagline incorporate insights gathered from clients, as well as a review of other professional service firms.

NATIONAL’s brand positioning statement is:‘NATIONAL is your communications/public relations partner that does what it takes - in a professional and ethical manner - to deliver success.’ Its tagline is: 'Trusted Partner. Bold Thinking.' or, in French, 'Partenaire sûr. Regard neuf.'

“Our brand positioning statement is not a new direction for our firm, but rather a reaffirmation of how we work with one another and how we think in order to continue delivering our brand promise. This statement of our priorities and strengths also tells clients what they can expect when they work with NATIONAL,” says Crean. “By applying bold thinking to all that we do, we work towards becoming a trusted partner to our clients.”

NATIONAL’s Web site www.national.ca features a refreshed look and print ads reflecting the new branding that will roll out to various trade and marketing media later this month and early next year.

NATIONAL was chosen by CRO as among the top 10 public relations firms in the world for corporate and social responsibility. NATIONAL was also declared Canadian Public Relations Agency of the year by the The Holmes Report. With offices in Victoria, Vancouver, Calgary, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Quebec City, New York and London, it also has an interest in MT&L/NATIONAL in Halifax and Saint John.

NATIONAL is a subsidiary of RES PUBLICA Consulting Group in Montreal, which also owns Cohn & Wolfe/Canada, with offices in Toronto, Montreal and Calgary and an affiliation with the worldwide Cohn & Wolfe network. Internationally, NATIONAL is affiliated with Burson-Marsteller. Both Burson-Marsteller and Cohn & Wolfe are part of WPP Group.
