AXE Canada, Toronto, has launched a nationwide search for two outgoing, confident 'social animals' to take on a Ridiculously, Ridiculously Good Summer Gig. Together with Harbinger Communications, who developed and are promoting the program, AXE will scour College and University campuses across Canada for one lucky guy and one lucky girl over the age of 19 to become AXE Canada’s first-ever Consumer Consultants. Aside from achieving personal fulfillment and earning an incredible pay cheque, the AXE Consumer Consultants will spend two months (June 1 to July 31, 2010) as members of the AXE team. The successful applicants will work together on a simple set of responsibilities: enjoying a summer of unforgettable social experiences and sharing them on a blog. It won’t be all fun and games. The successful candidates will also get a summer’s worth of real-world business and marketing experience with the brand. “At AXE, we know that connecting with girls plays a major part in a young guy’s life,” says Greg Major, AXE Canada. “The Consumer Consultants will be giving guys the support they need to succeed - from both sides of the gender divide.” Each AXE Canada Consumer Consultant will receive a $10,000 salary, awesome individual apartments in downtown Toronto and a summer that gives new meaning to 'positive work experience'. The job is being promoted by on-campus and online word-of-mouth programs, at student recruitment fairs across Canada and through a targeted media relations campaign - all of which is being coordinated by Toronto-based Harbinger. Additionally, PHD, also of Toronto, coordinated an online media buy targeting students across Canada. The program Web site, as well as online creative assets, were developed by Toronto-based zig. Applications are being accepted at www.axesummergig.ca until Nov. 22/09 (full rules and regulations are available on the site). Finalists for the position will be announced in Jan., 2010, at which point Canadians will have a chance to help the brand select the ultimate job holders.
